Swimsense was established in September 2000, by Emma Miller, in response to requests from parents and friends for a viable alternative to the more formal and structured swimming lessons at the local leisure centre. Our groups are small to ensure maximum swim time for each child.
At Swimsense we focus on the vital core swimming skills of water safety and confidence, balance and stroke technique. Other important and fun aspects included are diving, underwater swimming and personal survival. In all classes children are encouraged to be active throughout the lesson and to achieve their personal best.
Swimming lessons are for half an hour on either a Tuesday or Wednesday from 4.00 p.m.onwards at the Priory School in Dorking. Lately we have introduced a 45 minute session for the more advanced swimmer. We operate in term time only, with a break for half term with additional, optional classes in the summer holidays. Children join us from many local schools in Dorking, Newdigate, Westhumble, Mickleham, Westcott, Leatherhead, Reigate, Beare Green and Brockham.
Associate Member Institute of Swimming National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (renewed December 2011)

We are now into the second half of the term and the Priory school remains closed. Financing has now been agreed and work should start shortly. An update will be going out to all swimmers by the 6th November with an expected restart date.
NORTH DOWNS PRIMARY, WRAY COMMON SCHOOL, AND ST MATTHEWS PRIMARY continue into their second half of term. WRAY COMMON all swimming ends week commencing 20th November due to pool refurbishment.
